Furbrew and Overmorrow Brewing Company have partnered to support Hanoi Pride 2023 by launching the collab ‘Bia Đia’ Session IPA. The name ‘Bia Đia’ riffs off a former slur (“bê đê”, a loanword from the French ‘pédéraste’) that has recently been reclaimed as a positive badge of identity by young Vietnamese in the LGBTQ+ community.
The Session IPA was brewed under Hanoi’s intense heat and will debut at the Hanoi Pride Parade on September 24, 2023, with sales proceeds going to fund the coalition.
Visual Concept : The Kaleidoscope of Pride
Each LGBTQ+ community has their own Pride flag, which symbolize pride, and affirm their presence in society. However, no matter how many colors Pride flags have, it is difficult to fully express the diversity of identity. Therefore, this design takes the Pride flags as raw materials, combined with the kaleidoscope principle, to create the Kaleidoscope of Pride.
The design aims to celebrate the beauty of diversity, and the sense of belonging (even if you are not belong to any of the groups that have Pride flags, you are still a part of the inspiring Kaleidoscope of Pride). To embrace the message, there was not just one result to be produced. Several Pride jackets are available for Bia Đia to join the parade.
